Term 3 Reflection
Aaaaahhhhh!! Term Three's almost over !!!!
This term has been an outstanding Term, with all the different types of sports I’ve been in, and also having to participate in Cross Country.
A lot of things have happened this term. We’ve had Netball Prizegivings, League Tournaments and even Cross Country races. Every Wednesday we’d probably have Kiwi Sports, and for the past few weeks we've been having Netball sessions with Donna. Having these sessions also help us with what we can achieve in our actual teams.
My highlight for this term would probably be our Netball Prizegiving. Which was held right after Cross Country. Why? Well actually I got awarded Best Sportsmanship for my team.
I think that I have achieved one of my goals which were Self Managing. Which was part of finishing of tasks properly. Also creating movies and finishing it on time.
I’ve really enjoyed this Term. Learning different types of writing Topics, and reading journals about Earth. Overall I’ve enjoyed this term.
Unique Sport

Here is a Movie that my friends and I have created. It is a modified version of AFL ( Australian Football League ) Hope you enjoy!!

Cross Country 2014
Every year our school has cross country, and this year the tracks were harder. It went from year 1- 8. Aaaaahhh!!!! The 11th of September was the day. We’d come to school in different types of colours. I came to school in the colour Green Mataatua. There were other colours Blue (Tainui) Red ( Te Arawa ) and Yellow (Takitimu)
When Mr Jacobsen called out the year one boys we all got so excited. Watching my little brother run too, was quite an exciting experience. He was also representing Mataatua.
While waiting for our turn, I started getting hotter and hotter. Finally Mrs Nua asked us if we wanted to move to another spot. Eventually we heard Mr Jacobsen call out the year 5 boys.
Filled with nervousness, I headed off to the start of the race, just before Mr Burt called out the yr 7 girls. Butterflies hit my stomach, and my legs started shaking. BAANG! Mr Burt slapped the blocks together.
Huffing and Puffing I ran as fast as I could. It was actually the fastest that I’ve ever run. Running towards the gates I stopped and took a very long breathe, as I said to my friend “ the tracks are too loonnggg!!”
It had came to the end of my first lap, while struggling to get around for my second lap. Finally I had a friend to run with. It was Allanha, and we quickly ran down to the finish as everyone was cheering for us.
I can’t wait for next years Cross Country. Running in the year races too. “ GOOOO MATAATUA” I said while the year 8’s were running.

Why is exercising good for your Body?
Why should younger children exercise everyday? Well, wait its actually good for your body.
One of the reasons that exercising is good for your body is that it can help you get fitter. For an example athletes need to practice and work hard everyday to get fitter and have a placing in the Commonwealth. Did you also know that when you exercise it helps your brain.
Another reason exercising is good for your body is that it can help with sports. Which is mainly about how fit the player is for that sport. For an example if there were a unfit player in Netball, the team would probably have problems winning. When you are fit you’ll have more energy than an unfit person.
But why don’t people exercise? Besides having medical problems. Like asthma. Although exercising is good for your body, it can help with your brains. Besides that it also helps your Bones and Muscles.
Younger kids say exercising is Fun. Actually every kid does it. Kicking a ball for an example is a kind of exercise. Which helps your muscles in your legs.
That's why exercising helps you. Therefore if you exercise you can also lose eight in between weeks.

How to Use Blogger
Blogging. How do you use it?? Blogger and Blogging is very famous. A lot of people use to share their work with the world. You’ll first need an google account. Blogger was first invented in 2003. Our school uses Blogger to share our work with the world.
By then when you click the button It will appear with a different screen. That is where you can start writing, and name your Title. You can start typing you’re writing, or also click ( ctrl c and ctrl v) Which copies and pastes you’re writing.
In the end you’re post will probably look like this. It’ll also be viewed by a lot of people. It can also be seen by the world. Shown to people as well.
You’re Blog will probably look like Mine. Keep exploring and see what Blogger can do.

Science Experiment. Part 2 Paper Experiment
Science experiment:
Question: What will happen to the sound if I change the shape of a piece of paper? (e.g. from a flat shape to a funnel shape)
Links to research about Sound:
Hypothesis: (What do you think will happen?) e.g. I think that it will the sound will get louder and quieter every time I change the directions.
Materials needed:
A Flat Paper, Your self, Tape, and a tissue.
Experiment (procedure):
e.g. Step 1 - First hold a flat piece of paper against your ear. Block your other ear with your hand. Get your partner to speak to you. What is the sound like? Can you hear clearly?
Step 2 - Next, roll the piece of paper into a funnel shape. Put the funnel against your ear. Face the funnel towards your partner and listen to them speak. What does it sound like? Can you hear clearly?
Step 3 - Next, face the funnel to the side while your partner speaks to you. Does it make a difference to the sound that you can hear?
Step 4 - Put some cotton balls or tissue paper into the funnel to block one end. Does it make a difference to the sound you hear? Is the sound quality the same?
Step 5 - Next, roll the piece of paper up and face one end of the paper roll towards your partner. Listen to your partner speak. Is there a difference to the sound you hear?
Step 6 - Finally, turn to the side with your paper roll and listen to your partner speak. What is the sound like?
Data (What happened?)
Shape/object/materials

1
|
flat piece of paper
|
clearer? Didn’t make any difference.
|
2
|
funnel facing to the front towards partner
|
It actually sounds really loud
|
3
|
funnel facing to the side (opposite partner)
|
Its more quieter than when it was facing towards my partner.
|
4
|
cotton ball blocking funnel
|
I could hear echos

5
|
rolled up piece of paper (facing to the front)
|
It was really loud. It even made my ears hurt.
|
6
|
rolled up piece of paper (facing to the side)
|
It was normal.
|
Observations:
When I put the flat piece of paper to my ears it did not make any difference. But then when I got to fold it, it finally made quite louder sound. As I switched the funnel to the opposite side of my partner It was more quieter than when it was facing towards my partner. Then it was time to put the tissue in it and the weird thing was that all I could hear was echos. The rolled piece of paper - It was REALLY Loud, and it even made my ears hurt. Then it was finally the rolled up piece of paper (facing to the side) Which was normal.
Just like my hypothesis said. And my Observation. Every time I had switched my funnel to the opposite side of my partner it was quieter and different.
How music affects your Brain?
Music. Ahhhh Calming and Relaxing. There are a many types of Music around us and the world. Like ~ R&B, Pop, Hip Hop, Reggae, Jazz, Rap, Classical's and even more. Nowadays a lot of Teenagers enjoy listening to Rap and Pop and Hip Hop.
Impact:But the weird thing was that it could affect your Brain. Some types of Music that is from the 80’s and 70’s are what most adults like but others like what we children like. its enjoyable and sometimes it can be sad!
Have you heard of a Hippocampus?? Well I am going to tell you about it. A Hippocampus is part of your brain that brings back old memories. Loud music can also Damage your eardrums and your hearing.
Have you heard of any artists in the world? Well I know a lot of artist and the ones I mostly like is Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Chris Brown and Tyga! They rap and sing a lot of songs! But the best artist I enjoy listening to is Ariana Grande!
You probably didn’t notice but when you listen to music your heart beats with it. This cause could happen by,Instruments, Sound and MUSIC!! Not only music can cause this but also instruments like, Drum kits, Guitars, pianos and even more.
But the world without Music and Sound is just weird. Also BORING. Think about a party without Music. That’ll be SUPER Boring. So Thanks to Music and Sound our world is Fun.

Movie In The Park
Last week on Friday I had the chance to watch “Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2” Down at the Pt England Reserve. The movie had started at 7:30 pm till 9:00. It was a great opportunity to have normal family time watching the most interesting and funny movie.
The movie was about a scientist who tried to fix his very own machine. That had destroyed their island. The machine was created to make food without paying it. But after a lot of people used it, it turned out to destroy the island.
I also had the chance to go with my sister and her friends. They were quite funny. Walking around and seeing kids from other schools, and even my own Friends. But the most coolest part was getting to know new people.
Why I enjoyed it. Well it was free, it was in the night and plus the movie was entertaining. But most of all I enjoyed was having to watch it OUTSIDE. Which was quite different.

P.E/Sports at Tamaki College
Tamaki College is located in Glen Innes/ The Tamaki Area. Tamaki College is filled with Maori and Polynesian Students. There are actually a lot of students that came to PES. Like my very own Sister.
These past few weeks we have been walking down to Tamaki College for Sports (P.E) We had the opportunity to be tutored by Level 2 Yr 12’s. They were doing to get Credits in NCEA. I got the chance to get tutored by Sandra and Ariana.
Our fitness is really Important because our lower cholesterol levels,we could be healthier, fitter,we could be athletic. Fitness and exercise can also help you to avoid diabetes.
It is actually cool. Having to join in lots of activities. Like, Rats and Rabbits, High Jump, Blindfold Challenge, Obstacle Course, Amazing Race, Rope Jump, Trust fall and even more. Most of these activities included Teamwork and the 3P’s protection, partnership and participation.
But what I really enjoyed was participating in was rats and Rabbits. Which is quite like Tiggy. It was really Cool. So why don't you start playing sports.

Cyclone Lusi
What is a Cyclone? A cyclone is when there are very strong winds. It’s so strong, that it can rip off anything that is attached to the ground. There can be severe storms and rough rains. A Cyclone is very dangerous. It can cause a lot of damage.
Last weekend Auckland experienced heavy rain, and very strong winds. It wasn’t severe as we thought it would be. But it was still very frightening.
What has happened lately??
Last weekend Cyclone Lusi, hit the North of New Zealand. There was heavy rain, power outages, panicking, floods and lots of dark clouds,
Possibilities?
A cyclone can possibly cause, water shortages, deaths, accidents, extension damage and no school. Well it just happened this weekend. When Polyfest was postponed, to Tuesday.
