Tamaki Tech ~ Hard Materials

Being a year 7 is weird but cool at the same time. This year was the first year my friends and I had been to Tech (Technology). Classes 2, 4 and half of class 1 get the opportunity to go Tamaki College for Tech on Thursdays. But classes 3, 5 and the other half of class 1 go on Tuesdays. Which is today.

Once we get to Tamaki we then depart of to our classes. The first class I was put in was Hard Materials. Taught by Mr Grundy. We had a lot of naughty boys who never listened, and didn’t even get their projects finished. In our class we had created Necklaces.

But I'm sure next year we would probably be different. The most scared and dangerous thing I did was using the scroll saw. Which cuts the wooden part into shape. I had created my sisters initials which are T.M. I didn’t get to finish it but I really enjoyed creating it.

Then when you have finish using the scroll saw. You then ask Mr Grundy to tip in the pewter. Once we took it out we had to file it until it gets smooth. I finished filling it and then we had to sandpaper it. Grits - 180, 400 and 1200 and you also have to sandpaper it hard to get a great finish.

When you have finished sandpapering. You start to create your string for you're Necklace. Then you're Done.

It was a great opportunity for us to learn about the different Medals in Hard Materials.

Fiafia Reflection

Fiafia Movie - Jordenne and Sela from Team 5 PES on Vimeo.

Last night our school had the opportunity to perform at our very own Fiafia Night. Which was quite crowded and hot. But the most different and cool thing was having it outside.

Walking onto the Stage gave me a lot of Butterflies. Even when I was performing. But the best part was hiding my nervousness under a SMILE.

A couple of my friends and I had been selected to be in the Tongan Girls group.  Which I really enjoyed. But why? Well it was good representing our Culture.

Dancing everywhere and getting rewarded. Last night was amazing. Representing our Cultures. But the most important part was making your group proud.

But the most coolest part was having Stalls. Of Food. Which was quite as any other Fiafia Night that has happened.

I really enjoyed performing for the Tongan Girls. We wouldn’t have done great without Priscilla, Diana, Mrs Jarman and Miss Glazes help. So THANK you so much.

Fiafia was the most coolest highlight of the Term. I was really Excited. I cant wait till the next Fiafia.

The Famous Mental Author

Once upon a time, there lived a very hairy and famous young Man. Who lived in Australia. He was an Amazing Author who loved writing stories about peoples lives. Unfortunately he had Mental Problems.  But the most weirdest thing was he will rip his book and start over again. After his story was finished, one of his neighbors heard him yelling and called the Ambulance and by then he had finally stayed normal by using Mental Pills.

P.E/Sports at Tamaki College

Tamaki College is located in Glen Innes/ The Tamaki Area. Tamaki College is filled with Maori and Polynesian Students. There are actually a lot of students that came to PES. Like my very own Sister.

These past few weeks we have been walking down to Tamaki College for Sports (P.E)  We had the opportunity to be tutored by Level 2 Yr 12’s.  They were doing to get Credits in NCEA. I got the  chance to get tutored by Sandra and Ariana.

Our fitness is really Important because our lower cholesterol levels,we could be healthier, fitter,we could be athletic. Fitness and exercise can also help you to avoid diabetes.

It is actually cool. Having to join in lots of activities. Like, Rats and Rabbits, High Jump, Blindfold Challenge, Obstacle Course, Amazing Race, Rope Jump, Trust fall and even more. Most of these activities included Teamwork and the 3P’s protection, partnership and participation.

But what I really enjoyed was participating in was rats and Rabbits. Which is quite like Tiggy. It was really Cool. So why don't you start playing sports.

Cyclone Lusi

What is a Cyclone?  A cyclone is when there are very strong winds. It’s so strong, that it can rip off anything that is attached to the ground.  There can be severe storms and rough rains. A Cyclone is very dangerous. It can cause a lot of damage.

Last weekend Auckland experienced heavy rain, and very strong winds. It wasn’t severe as we thought it would be. But it was still very frightening.

What has happened lately??
Last weekend Cyclone Lusi,  hit the North of New Zealand. There was heavy rain, power outages, panicking, floods and lots of dark clouds,

Possibilities?
A cyclone can possibly cause, water shortages, deaths, accidents, extension damage and  no school.  Well it just happened this weekend. When Polyfest was postponed, to Tuesday.

Fia Fia Night

Malo E lelei, Bula Vinaka, Kia Ora, Kia Orana, Talofa Lava and Greetings to you all.

This term our school is going to be having a Culture Night (AKA a Fiafia Night) .These past few weeks we have started to practice some introductions of the Dance and also actions. I’m in the Tongan Girls Group which is taught by  My Aunty and mainly by Mrs Jarman, Miss Glaze and Diana.

Ohh and as to mention  Fiafia is mainly held every 2nd year. First we always had to pick some Girls that are in the Tongan Group. We are learning to dance, to a Tongan tradition song that is called “ Funga Sia” Also sang by Men. There are parts where we move around the stage.

Sometimes, my auntie and a group of Girls have extra lessons. Every Saturday afternoon. It is really cool having a Auntie as a Tutor. As a tongan I like to know what it feels like to do dances like this. It was actually my first time being in the Tongan Group.

If there was a Korean/Kpop Group I would probably, join in. Why? Well my friend (Josephine) really enjoys listening and learning Korean. It really sounds cool. She has told me a lot.

But really I enjoy being in the Tongan Group because it is helping me to understand and Represent my culture better. I never knew that Tonga had a better part of their Culture. I am really looking forward to our School’s Fiafia Night.

Sketchup

What is Sketchup? Sketchup is a Designing Programme. That is used in our Class also around the World. It is a Programme where you can Create things that are 3D. In Class Sketchup is mainly used as a 3D Tool.

I use Sketchup as a 3D tool. Sketchup has A LOT of tools that are included. there are- Shapes, Erasers, Freehand Drawings (When you can casually draw anything) And a  Pencil ( Which only draws Straight Lines)

Sketchup is really cool. This programme is for Creating things and also building. Its like teaching yourself how to build. One day you would probably be great at Building and Creating.

This term our class is using Sketchup with designing a toy. Which was set as one of our tasks. I am going to be creating a Minion. Our task was to create a toy that would keep the Junior kids entertained. That's why Sketchup is a really good programme.

Mr Webb and Room One

So far this year a Class from Taranaki New Zealand, has been leaving feedback on My Blog. I thought it was great seeing kids around the country Reading MY Posts. When I heard about this class they sounded cool and Amazing. I think this is their first year having their Individual Blogs.

It was a that was taught by Mr Webb and Room One. From Auroa School. They seem to like Reading my posts. This class sounds REALLY cool. Mr Webb has been reading Blogs all around and spotted mine and my Friends. We Both felt REALLY Special. So THANKS Mr Webb and Room One. Keep Striving to Succeed. So YOU should visit their Blog.

What Does Empathy mean to me??

1. What is Empathy?? Empathy has so MANY different ways of meaning. Well to me Empathy is Understanding what another person is Feeling. Did you also there was a Saying it was “ Seeing with the eyes of another, listening with the ears of another and feeling with the heart of another”

2.Empathy is also looking out for one another and experiencing the feeling they had felt, when getting hurt. Empathy, also being aware of sharing another person’s, emotions, experiences and feelings.

3. Empathy is just like, Caring. Also recognizing the same feeling as the person. Experiencing another person’s Feeling and Emotion. There is even MORE ways of explaining Empathy but, I didn’t know how to explain it properly.

Fiafia had just ended!!

WOW!! We had waited for a very long time for this night and it was AMAZING!! There were so many people I couldn't even walk through to our sitting spot. There were food stalls and more.

Walking into our changing rooms I started to have Butterflies in my stomach. It was also our last day of the term. It was a terrific day for us. We had prayed so many times so it hadn't rained. But as it went on it still felt PERFECT to me.

And also we weren't able to sit on the ground so we had just had to miss 2 performances. that was boring but still we had our performance and watched a couple of them. Walking onto the stage it was nerve racking everybody yelling out your name and also your own mother or Father coming to give a reward.

it was fun having Fiafia, infact I thought this was the best one ever. FIAFIA 2013 has finished. But being happy can happen every time. Happy 60th Birthday Point England School.

Xtramath

Here is a snapshot of my progress in Xtramath.  Using Xtramath is so cool. This picture is showing where I am up to in Xtramath. This is where I have caught up to in Maths Class. I am still in Multiplication.
